This weekend was the BCA international competition in Telford and it was my second and last cheerleading competition with Yorkshire Martyrs (cue crying). And the team did AMAZINGLY.
The friday was the solos, duets and stunt teams, so our team had 2 solos (tumbling and non-tumbling, both junior), 2 duets (tumbling and non-tumbling seniors) Junior level 1 stunt, co-ed senior level 2 stunt and co-ed senior level 3 stunt, and all of them placed! There was some big competition in them, and out of all of them they came out with 4 firsts, 2 thirds and a fourth. All of the catagories for the solos and duets are really bug catagories so those especially are amazing! Especially Emmas furst ever solo where she came 1st out of 11 people!
My cheer routine (level 2) was on the Saturday and we had to do it twice. Our first go people weren’t really into it. We did well, but no one really put everything in. I don’t know why, I think we just weren’t mentally prepared for it, but when the points went up we were second, but has a 10 point deduction because of an illegal move. So this was changed for the second go (to a split lift from the inverted split thing we did) and everyone danced their bums off. I felt like I was going to die.
Anyway, we came second!!!!
I spent most of Saturday night and Sunday morning moping because I’m moving and won’t be able to cheer with them any more. I’ve never felt so sad about leaving something, not even university and I was a wreck for weeks about that. It’s such a lovely team and everyone genuinely cares about each other, and I’ve only been there 6 months, which is nothing compared to the 5 years some of them have been in it, and people have made me feel like I’ve been with them all along. I’m seriously going to miss those girls.
Lets go Martyrs, lets go!
